Allopathic or “conventional” medicine tends to isolate a problem and treat it, often without any reference as to the root cause. Alternative or “complimentary” therapies do not replace conventional medicine but compliment or support it. The alternative solutions discussed below can be used in conjunction with any treatment, whether conventional or alternative.
What Is Holistic Health?
As defined by the American Holistic Health Association, holistic health is actually an approach to life. Rather than focusing on illness or specific parts of the body, this ancient approach to health considers the whole person and how he or she interacts with his or her environment. It emphasizes the connection of mind, body, and spirit.
The goal is to achieve maximum well-being, where everything is functioning the very best that is possible. With holistic health people accept responsibility for their own level of well-being, and everyday choices are used to take charge of one’s own health.
Holistic Therapies are alternative therapies that take the holistic approach to health and wellness, balancing the body on all levels, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, and activating or stimulating the body’s innate ability to self-heal. The target is for the body to achieve a state of balance, known as homeostasis; this is commonly referred to as holistic health.
Alternative Solutions For Holistic Health
I have personally experienced and worked with many different alternative therapies, energy healing and self-help modalities to date; Hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Healing Touch, Hands On Healing, and Reiki, just to name a few.
The alternative solutions I’ve highlighted below have served me well at one time or another, and still do. Some of them I use on a daily bases, such as the tools of Access. Others are there when my body is asking for additional assistance.
